"To me, my curly hair is more than just hair — it’s part of my self-love journey"

 

Growing up in Papua, I was surrounded by beautiful curls, yet rarely saw them worn freely. In school, we were told to tie our hair to look “tidy.” I was teased, called a “beehive,” and learned to hide my curls instead of embracing them.

 

For years, I didn’t feel confident in how I looked.

 

There were few products made for our texture, little education, and straight hair was the norm. Like many others, I chemically straightened my hair just to fit in.

 

Everything changed when I moved to the U.S. for university in 2014. For the first time, I saw women proudly wearing their natural curls — every texture, every style. When I finally wore my hair down and someone told me my curls were beautiful, something shifted. I began to believe it too.

 

When I returned to Indonesia, I knew I wanted to create the curly hair care I wished had existed growing up: nourishing, effective, and made with intention.
